Volunteer Experiences
These are the volunteer experiences that I have in the Nutrition field. They greatly affected me, shaped who I am, and reflected my future involvement in the Nutrition field.

CUMAC
CUMAC is a food bank in Paterson New Jersey, during my time there I assitaed in:
-
Sorting food recieved as donations.
-
Stocking and distributing food to community members.
With the experiences I am currently gaining volunteering at CUMAC, I have learned that I enjoy working in a setting that involves helping the underprivileged and less fortunate. I hope to grow from this experience and participate in similar programs.

Cook's Market - Rutger's Gardens
The Cook's Market at Rutgers Gardens is a student led project that project that I have participated in. Duties involes:
-
Assiting in seeting up tents and sales tables.
-
Helping with WIC transations
-
Assiting with grounds keeping in the surrounding garden.
With the experiences that I am gaining here, I have learned that I would like to assist in bettering my soft skills and working more harmoniously in a team setting. It has dramatically altered my teamwork skills and work ethic outside of academics.

During my time at CUMAC and Cook's Market, I have learned that I have what it takes to work in a team setting, with various types of people and to help those less fortunate than me. I hope to apply these experiences to becoming an RD that can work with people in multiple positions and walks of life and find ways to bridge the gaps between social, cultural, and any other difference that exists to help make a difference in the health and wellness landscape.
